Ostrołęka lays in North-East Poland, near Narew river. This part of Poland always was backward then rest of country. Big forests and wildernesses of that region supported economy of this region. Epidemics and fires common in Mazowsze destroyed towns and countries. When Poland became independent Ostrołęka was rebuilt after the 1st World War, schools were built and cultures expanded. But low investments cannot solve unemployment and countries overcrowding problem. In 1939 city know threat of bombards. 8th of September German occupants came into town. 6th of September 1944 Red Army liberate :) the town. Front on Narew River holds until January 1945. Ostrołęka now is administration centre of district and constantly expanding industry and economy centre.
