It was established on the request of Tomaszow society that was interested in musical education of children and the youth. A Ognisko Muzyczne, that had been already existed for five years, was a germ of the school. Ms Maria Zakrzewska was the main initiator of the establishment of the school of the 1st level and she was its first headmistress for 19 years. Social demand was increasing and the teaching staff was complying with high requirements. In 1981 the school of the 2nd level was set up. At the beginning it took a role of a branch of State School od Music in Piotrkow Trybunalski. After a new building, erected thanks to efforts of the second headmaster Mr Jan Makowski, had been given for school use, the 2nd level school gained autonomy and on the strength of the decision of Piotrkow Province authorities it has been an independent institution since 1989.
