- 6th-7th century - the oldest, archeologically confirmed open settlement.
- 11th century - creation of the castellan's city
- 1136 - the first written mention about Sieradz in the Pope Innocenty II's bulla, which confirms the urban character of Sieradz.
- The second half of the 12th century - the Arabian geographer al-Idrisi determines Sieradz next to Gniezno, Cracow and Wrocław as "the famous capitals and strong centres".
- 1247 -1255 - the duke Kazimierz Konradowic confers the civil right to Sieradz.
- 1255 - two Sieradz's inhabitants, Marcin and Wilkin, receive permission for Warta location.
- 1241 - the Tatar invasions; the settlement destruction
- 1263 -1264 - as a result of Leszek Czarny and Ziemomyslaw's, the duke Kazimierz Konradowic dispense Leszek Czarny with Sieradz Duchy and after his death the duchy is passed to Władysław Łokietek.
- 1331 - the destruction of the city by the Teutonic Order.
- 14th-15th century - 12 general conventions take place in Sieradz. In the second half of the l4th century the Sieradz district is created.
- 1383 - at one of the conventions, Sieradz is absolved from the responsibility towards Queen Maria Węgierska and becames the Queen of Poland Jadwiga.
- 1432 - at the convention in Sieradz it is assured that after the death of Władysław Łokietek , the crown of Poland will be passed to his oldest son , Władysław, later called Warneńczyk.
- 1445 - the election of Kazimierz Jagiellończyk in Sieradz.
- 17th-18th century - destruction of the city by the Swedes, the plague epidemic and fires.
- 1558 - the city is given the privilege to elect three candidates for the mayor and four concillors.
- 1656 - under the leadership of governor Jan Koniecpolski, both the city and the castle are taken away from Swedes.
- 1752 - the King August III confers the Royal Secretary Office to the mayor of Sieradz, Mikołaj Wiśniewski.
- 1780 - Right Order Commitee is created.
- 1789 - Sieradz's inhabitiants' delegation takes part in "Czarna Procesja" (The Black Procession) in Warsaw and signs "Akt Zjednoczenia Miast" (The City Unification Act).
- 1793 - as a result of the 2nd partition of Poland, Sieradz is passed to the Prussian reign and looses the district status.
- 13.11.1806 - the uprising act against Prussians is announced.
- 1813 - Sieradz is under the Russian Army occupation.
- 1823-1833 - a cloth manufacture of Adolf Harrer which is founded.
- 1852 - the outbreak of cholera epidemic, as a result of 500 people die
- 1856 - Wilhelm Rubinsztejn openes a bookshop together with a library
- 1863-1864 - Sieradz's inhabitants actively participate in the January uprising.
- 1876 - The Volontary Fire Brigade is founded
- 1901 - Sieradz Music Association ( takes up its activity ) is founded
- 1902 - the railway line connecting Sieradz with Kalisz and Lodz is opened.
- 17.08.1914 - the German invasion.
- 1916 - Polska Organizacja Wojskowa (National Military Organisation) is created
- 11.11.1918- taking over the power from the Germans at the Sieradz's market square.
- 1937 - Sieradz Land Museum is created
- 9.11.1939 - Sieradz is included in the Reich.
- 23.01.1945 - the city is liberated by the Russian Army
- 1946 - the District Public Library is opened.
- 1951 - establishing of the District National Archive.
- 1957 - Municipal Theatre resumes it's activity
- 24.02.1967 - formation of Sieradz's Friends Association.
- 1970 - Amphitheatre in the Staromiejski Park is opened.
- 1.06.1975 - Sieradz becomes the seat of the district authorities.
- 12.07.1976 - formation of Cyprian Bazylik's Music Association.
- 10.10.1979 - the begining of Municipality's Tower construction
- 17.06.1985 - 850 years Sieradz anniversary opening.
- 27.02.1990 - formation of "Telewizja Sieradz" (Sieradz TV Station).
- 18.11.1996 - the first broadcast of the "Nasze Radio" station
- 1996 - 860-years' anniversary of Sieradz opening.
